The Philippine Consulate General wishes to invite the public to attend a Town Hall Meeting on Temporary Protective Status (TPS) on 28 January 2014, Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at Kalayaan Hall, Philippine Center, 556 5th Avenue, NY, NY (between 45th and 46 Sts.).

Speakers include Mr. Matthieu Eugene who will share his experience as a native of Haiti , which has been a recipient of TPS, and as a member of the New York City Council which has issued a Resolution supporting TPS for the Philippines. Other resource persons are legal and media practitioners and experts who can explain TPS and its impact on the Filipino community.

The meeting is a joint initiative of the Philippine Consulate General, the Filipino-American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. (FALDEF) and the Fil-Am Press Club of New York to educate the public on the benefits, requirements and consequences of TPS as well as possible public safety concerns in light of news reports.
