The art of Yannie Rumbao could describe as a partly abstract and figurative form of visual arts. His vibrant symbolic paintings evoke feelings of love, unity, and hope. He uses triangles (fish heads) to symbolize his identity and signature in his artworks. In 1980 his girlfriend, now his lovely wife Rowena Soriano-Rumbaoa, would go to Navotas Fish Port to buy fish and sell it to the local market. Yannie’s daily encounters with the vendors inspired him to create his trademark.

Yannie is a Filipino artist, painter, and coin engraver. He was born in Manila, Philippines. He graduated from the University of Sto Tomas in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, major in Painting. Yannie is the first Filipino Coin Engraver of Bangko Central ng Pilipinas. He is the first Filipino who attended the Art of Medal and Coins training at Instituto Poligrapico E’XZecca Delo Stato Scuola Dell Arte Della Medalla in Rome, Italy. He also took the advanced course of Direct Metal and Coin Engraving. In addition, he had a year of extensive training in Bas Reliefs in 1993.

Yannie is a leader; he is a founder of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas – Security Printing Complex (BSP-SPC) and Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas Art Club (BSP Art Club). He was the former president of UST Atelier Alumni Association, Inc. Ugnayang Sining Tomasino, BSP-SPC and BSP Art Club. He is a multi-awarded artist who received international recognitions since
