He studied Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines. He held his first solo exhibit at the Indigo Gallery in 1967, followed by others at the Luz Gallery and the CCP. Artists and curator Ray Albano wrote of his work: “He is the leading master of the spray gun, having had the authority and experience to play around it… His language was complete with nuances of expression and allusion…” He was a recipient of the first CCP Thirteen Artists Awards in 1970. His works were part of the exhibits Insights into Philippine Contemporary Art held in Washington DC in 1976, and Five Directions, held at the Museum of Philippine Art.
