Felix “Lex” Cachapero is a Filipino‑American painter and sculptor whose works reflect a deep engagement with nature, spirituality, and cultural identity. In the late 1980s, he was active in the Art Caravan project with National Artist Dean Jose Joya at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in Manila, an experience that helped shape his artistic vision.
Cachapero is best known as a painter of landscapes and for his celebrated series “Angels of the Ozone,” which he exhibited at the Philippine Center New York (PCNY) in 1999. He returned to the PCNY in 2000 for a two‑man show with Pancho Piano, and again in 2004 with his exhibition “Landscapes, Seescapes.” These shows established him as a prominent figure in the Filipino‑American art community, particularly in New York.
His paintings often combine figurative and abstract elements, rendered in bold colors and dynamic forms that evoke both energy and transcendence. Through his landscapes and symbolic imagery, Cachapero explores humanity’s relationship with the environment and the spiritual dimensions of everyday life.
