Julian Oteyza

Julia Oteyza is a contemporary artist whose work reflects a deep fascination with science, invention, and energy, blending artistic creativity with experimental innovation. She is the daughter of modernist painter Victor Oteyza, and her artistic lineage is evident in the boldness and originality of her practice.

She studied at the University of Santo Tomas, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. From early on, Julia sought to push the boundaries of traditional art forms, developing unique concepts such as Rotating Perspectives, Dyslexart, Emerging Dimensions, Light Wave Reflections, and Time Frames. These projects often invite viewers to interact with the artwork, challenging conventional ideas of how art should be experienced.

Her exhibitions include solo shows like Magic Circles (2009) and Dyslexart (2008), both held at the Philippine Center in New York. She also pioneered the annual exhibition “Brown Strokes on White Canvas”, organized every Philippine Independence Day at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. This initiative highlights Filipino creativity and cultural pride on an international stage.

Julia Oteyza has exhibited widely across the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, as well as in Florida, Atlanta, New York, Illinois, France, Italy, India, Egypt, and Manila. Her global reach demonstrates the universal appeal of her work, which merges visual art with scientific curiosity and interactive design.

She has also served as president of the International Artists Support Guild, underscoring her commitment not only to her own practice but also to fostering artistic communities and supporting fellow creatives
