MGA DAHON NG LAHI” – A SPECIAL ART EXHIBITION

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Global Ministry of New York and the Philippines will present Fernando Manipon in a special art exhibition entitled “Mga Dahon ng Lahi – Pages of Heritage” on August 26-30, 2019 at the Philippine Center, New York City.

Fernando “Pando” Manipon is making a mark as a Leaf Mosaic Collage artist in the Philippines.  “Mga Dahon ng Lahi” will showcase 48 of Pando Manipon’s unique art works made from dried leaves gathered from the devastation of hurricanes Yolanda and Ondoy.  The collection features glimpses of the Philippines’ colorful history and rich cultural heritage – customs & traditions, influences, folklore, literature, crafts, trade, and the country’s UNESCO World Heritage churches.

Pando is considered some kind of a “Papal Artist.”  His one very unique and beautiful creation was a mosaic portrait of the Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican on an ostrich egg.  He gave this as a gift to Pope Francis during the Pope’s visit to the Philippines in 2015.  Among the many received, it was one of the only two gifts taken by Pope Francis back home to the Vatican.

The amazing and unique art works of Pando have been exhibited at the Senate of the Philippines, the San Agustin Church Museum in Intramuros, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
