Press Release March 30 2015: Philippine Design Showcase

Philippine Design Showcase

Philippine design showcase at the Fifth Avenue New York Philippine Center window

A selected collection of Philippine-made furniture and home accents showcasing the country’s design aesthetics and craftsmanship are on display at the Philippine Center’s Fifth Avenue window from now until the end of April 2015.

The pieces are among the products carried in the United States by Phillips Collection, a leading North Carolina-based furniture importing company known for its “creative collaboration that mixes concept, craftsmanship and marketing to bring beautiful furnishings and accessories into sophisticated homes around the world.”

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center New York collaborated with the multi-awarded Phillips Collection in featuring the following pieces from their collection of works of Filipino designers and manufacturers that highlight global style for the contemporary market:

  • Fireco Coffee Table and Side Table

The black/silver tables are made by Bon-Ace Fashion Tools, a Philippine fashion and lifestyle products company with worldwide reach known for its unique designs and functionality with products made from all-natural materials carefully crafted with master craftsmen’s skills.

  • Urchin Console

The oblong-shaped console made from abaca vine with a glass top which evokes “organic forms interpreted in hand-woven natural fiber” is from Enpekei International, a Philippine exporter that produces mostly furniture and decorative accessories handcrafted by artisans. Each piece is made of indigenous materials carefully finished by hand, thus producing a unique work of art.

  • Square Root Wall Art

The silver-leafed Square Root wall art shows how “natural variations in root create a stunning wall mount art.” Made of Acacia root coated in resin, Square Root was chosen best product of the year by Interior Design Magazine. The award-winning piece is by Heinimex Corporation, a manufacturer and exporter of decorations and reproductions for home and garden including furniture, fountains, planters, urns, and garden statues, with each product is individually hand cast and finished by highly-skilled Philippine craftsmen.

  • Waves Circle Vase

The off-white resin and stone-composite tabletop item shows how “contemporary materials can take on the spirit of nature.” The item is created by Nature’s Legacy Eximport, a Philippine exporter in the forefront of eco-sustainable brands with a reputation as one of the prime movers in the stone casting industry. The company specializes in creating a variety of eco-art products such as occasional furniture, home accessories, lawn and garden, and fashion accessories.

The home furnishings window display hopes to generate interest among visitors and New York-based buyers of furniture and furnishings as well as architects, interior designers and other opinion-leaders that recommend and influence clients’ furniture and furnishing choices and purchases.

After the display, these products will be available at The Phillips Collection – NYC Showroom at 200 Lexington Avenue, Suite 603, New York, NY 10016.
