Emilina Masigan Mercado is a Filipino painter and educator whose works reflect themes of community, spirituality, and everyday life. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines, and went on to dedicate 35 years as a teacher in art and drama at the International School of Manila. Beyond teaching, she also served as an art director for Channel 13, contributing to the development of visual culture in broadcast media.
Mercado has held notable solo exhibitions, including Watercolors with Emi at the Garden Gallery in Makati, Metro Manila, and Mixed Media Portraits at the Jamaica Plain Studio in Boston, Massachusetts, both in 2000. She has also participated in group exhibitions, such as the Society of Philippine American Artists Annual Exhibitions at the Philippine Center New York, and Celebration in Art at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C.
Her paintings, such as Going Home from Church, are characterized by warm palettes, figurative compositions, and narrative depth, often portraying ordinary Filipino moments imbued with cultural resonance.
